MEETINGS & ACTIVITIES
The Convention will kick off with the annual golf outing at Topgolf. On Sunday evening, we will host the Welcome Reception followed by Dinner and the rest of the evening open for you to socialize with members or enjoy the area.
Monday will be filled with speakers and educational sessions. Monday evening will feature our annual reception and dinner. On Tuesday, attendees are free to enjoy the morning before checking out and heading home.

Click here to download the registration form. For planning purposes, it is important that you indicate on the Registration Form the number of people that will participate in each meal and activity. Return the form and payment for the appropriate fees to the VTA no later than Friday, August 19, 2022. No refunds will be given after September 14, 2022.
NOTE: If your spouse is attending with you, you must pay the spouse registration fee in order for her/him to have breakfast, lunch and the group dinners. Two meeting attendees staying in the same room must pay the single registration fee for each person. The "Day Only" rate includes meetings, breakfast and lunch. The cost of dinner and reception is NOT included in the "Day Only" rate.

Governor Glenn Youngkin (Invited)
Integrating Younger Adults into Trucking Careers – The American Transportation Research Institute recently released its report that investigates how to best integrate younger adults aged 18 to 25 into trucking careers. This research synthesizes a variety of data and analyses including younger driver surveys, carrier interviews, and the latest workforce statistics. The research also documents motor carrier perspectives on participating in the new FMCSA Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program. ATRI’s Alex Leslie, the primary author of the ATRI report, will present the results of their research into this important topic.
Launch of the VTA’s new Workers Compensation Insurance Program - The VTA is pleased to announce our new partnership with Alliance Interstate Risk (AIR) to offer superior and competitively priced workers’ compensation insurance coverage to our members. Fleet operators should attend this session to learn all about this program and how it could reduce your workers comp coverage costs. Insurance agents should attend to learn about offer the VTA program as an option for their clients.
Update on Legal Issues in Trucking – VTA General Counsel Steve Setliff of Setliff Law will report on the latest legal issues impacting the trucking industry, including two recent Supreme Court decisions. The first is the Court’s decision not to hear the California Trucking Association’s appeal of a lower court ruling that upheld California’s AB5 law that effectively requires motor carriers to classify owner-operators as employees. The other decision denied appeal of a case holding a broker negligent in connection with a serious injury from an accident involving a carrier it hired.
Transportation Electrification in Virginia – We are working to secure an electric utility representative to talk about their plans for electrification of transportation in Virginia as well as officials with a VTA member fleet that is piloting use of two heavy-duty electric trucks in their fleet.
Other program topics include driver training and workforce development, employee benefits and important legislative issues facing Virginia’s trucking industry.
